Dr. Eduardo R. Lorenzana

For over 25 years, Dr. Lorenzana has been serving the needs of his patients near Boerne, focusing on periodontics and dental implant restorations. His goal in every case is to improve the lives of his patients in the long term, offering solutions that can stand the test of time.

For Dr. Lorenzana, dentistry is in his blood. His father was a periodontist who practiced in El Salvador while his grandfather was a laboratory technician. Through them, Dr. Lorenzana was able to see first-hand how taking care of patients and helping them achieve healthier smiles could completely change their lives. After watching countless people find joy in their grins again, he decided it was time to carry on the family legacy.

Dr. Lorenzana first attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where he completed his Bachelor of Biology. Once he obtained his undergraduate education, he transferred to Baylor College of Dentistry to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1996.

Even after earning this distinction, he continued learning, eventually gaining a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master’s in Oral Biology in 1999. He then went on to become Board-Certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

Since then, he began to educate others, lecturing both nationally and internationally on the subjects of dental implants, periodontal plastic surgery, periodontics, and esthetics. Today, he has given over 170 lectures and completed over 50 hours a year in continuing education.

Because of his high degree of skill and his thirst for knowledge, Dr. Lorenzana has received multiple distinctions, accolades, and positions of leadership in the world of dentistry.

He currently serves as Section Chair for the U.S. branch of the International Team for Implantology (ITI)—the world’s largest dental implant organization. In the past, he’s been a president of both the Texas and Southwest Societies of Periodontists, created professional study clubs in San Antonio, and held a five-year tenure as a SPEAR Study Club Director.

Dr. Lorenzana has also been consistently recognized as one of Texas Monthly’s Top Periodontists & Implant Surgeons since the award’s creation.

Outside the office, Dr. Lorenzana is a real renaissance man who plays guitar, competes in triathlons, does photography, and cares for his wife and children.

Dr. Lorenzana did excellent work for my three implants. All the three implants were no pain, no complication, but very nice results. He is very professional and knowledgeable in what he is doing. His staff is professionally trained as well. They are very nice! Strongly recommend!

I am Missing 1 or More Teeth

An incomplete smile doesn’t have to be your long-term reality thanks to dental implants near Boerne. Using state-of-the-art materials that fuse with bone tissues and create a solid foundation for your new smile, you can feel confident when engaging with others, no matter if you’re eating a meal, speaking before a large group, or simply showing off your new and improved appearance in a family photo.

I Want to Correct My “Gummy” Smile

Excess gum tissue that exists around teeth can leave you feeling self-conscious about your appearance. However, this can change with the help of gummy smile correction near Boerne. By eliminating the additional tissue, we can create teeth that appear elongated while also delivering a healthier, more confident smile. This unique service not only boosts your appearance but also reduces your risk of gum disease and the negative effects it can have on your smile and body.

I am Concerned About Bleeding Gums

Gum disease near Boerne affects millions of people in the United States; in fact, more than half of all adults are suffering from some form of the disease. When bleeding and inflammation are evident, it’s important that you seek gum disease treatment right away. With scaling and root planing and other similar treatments, we can clear away harmful tissues and give healthy gums a chance to reattach and ultimately thrive year after year.

I am Nervous/Afraid of the Dentist

When preparing for any kind of dental treatment, it’s important to find a periodontist who believes in the importance of comfort. This is why we offer sedation dentistry near Boerne. How Do I Find the Best Place to Get Dental Work Done?

The answer to this will vary from person to person, and it’ll be mostly based on factors that you find important. This can be combination of things, including location, hours, credentials, insurance/payment and fees, comfort, and safety. It’s also essential to know what kind of treatments or services you’re looking for, such as if you require dental implants to rebuild your smile, periodontal therapy to protect your gums, or sedation dentistry to enjoy more relaxed procedures. Some practices may be better suited than others with such care. Lastly, you should also get familiar with your dental team to see how they interact with their patients. What is the Best Way to Find a Periodontist Who Does Dental Implants?

As one of the most comprehensive and reliable ways to replace missing teeth, dental implants are the go-to option for helping patients rebuild their full smiles. Of course, it’s important to do your research before choosing a practice to receive this treatment from. Remember that the dental implant process involves two main stages: placement and restoration. While some offices only offer one part of the treatment, our team can perform the entirety under one roof. Dr. Lorenzana is a periodontist and dental implant specialist as well as a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, meaning you can be sure to undergo the highest quality of care when rebuilding your smile via titanium posts.

What Do You Do If You Can’t Afford a Periodontist?

We understand that the cost of treatment can often make patients hesitant about committing to getting dental care. However, our team wants to ensure that you can get the treatment you need without having to worry about emptying your wallet. That’s why, if you are currently under a dental coverage plan, we’ll be more than happy to walk you through the details of your policy as well as file claims for you so that you can have a stress-free process. We also accept plans through CareCredit and Lending Club that can help turn your treatments into monthly installments that come with little to no interest.

What Level of Education is Required to Be a Periodontist?

Most dental professionals in the United States who become periodontists will first need to obtain a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) from one of the 67 Accredited dental schools in the country. They’ll need to have earned their bachelor's degree to enter dental school, as well as typically high grades in a major focusing in math and sciences. Dental school is three years with a mixture of hands-on and classroom learning. Dentists can then further their education by earning 1 of 12 specialization recognized by the American Dental Association, such as dental implantology and periodontology.
